Turmeric Influences Positively on the Treatment of TB
Turmeric, a popular food spice can not only make food more delicious, but can also help in cure of tuberculosis. Ingredients of turmeric seem to improve TB treatment efficiency and turmeric was also registered to reduce the terms of treatment by approximately two times.
Also the chances of TB relapse become smaller when curcumin nanoparticles are used as an adjunct therapy along with the standard TB treatment, if compared with treatment course without using turmeric. Actually it had shown such results on mice, the treatment terms were shorten on two times when the turmeric was given.
International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Delhi, University of Calcutta, KIIT University in Bhubaneswar and Vanderbilt University, USA had developed a simple one-step process to generate curcumin nanoparticles, that retains all its wonder properties and are absorbed better by the body.
“From half an hour, the bio-availability of medicines increased to 18 hours with curcumin. Most of the medicines worked with 12 hours of bioavailability of the drug inside the body. Our data gives the basis for continuing clinical trial for curcumin,” commented Gobardhan Das, the leader of the study, from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi told DH. All the results of the research were published in the Frontier journal.
