Nearly 818 million dollars are needed to cover testing for HIV, medical assistance, antiretroviral therapy (ART), maternal healthcare, prevention and treatment of TB, immunisation for hepatitis B and C and preventative HIV-care (PrEP) in Kenya.

Mental health care is going to be also covered for people living HIV, but family planning and nutrition, (which are now part of the Kenya ART guidelines) will be excluded from the new insurance coverage.

Maisha Aids Conference took place  in Nairobi last week, where was discussed further possible ways how to stop HIV-transmission in Kenya. National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) purposed three types of the further sutuation development: 100% coverage of premium insurance for Kenyans living with HIV, financed by National Aids Control Council (NACC) ; HIV-positive people should pay for themselves; or a combined method of personal payment and support from the third parties.

Kenyan Ministry of Health have  requested nearly 343 million dollar grant  from the Global Fund for HIV, TB and malaria prevention and treatment coverage.
