About 50 New Medicines For HIV Treatment Are Being Developed
About 50 new medicines for HIV treatment and prevention are being developed, as 2017 HIV/AIDS Medicines in Development, and The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America reported.
New drugs are highly important for successful HIV prevention and treatment because the amount of people with drug resistance is growing, as The Lancet Infectious Diseases reported. 32 of them are antiretroviral and antiviral medicines, other 16 are expected to be vaccines, four will be used as cell therapies with potential first-in-class medicine intended to prevent HIV from attaching to new cells and breaking through the cell membrane. All the medicines and vaccines are looking for clinical trials or reviews by the FDA.
