Public Health England Has Answered To #WhereIsPrEP Call

11 四月 2017

In response to the petition calling for starting a trial submitting the pre-exposure prophylaxis (PreP) drug administration to 10,000 people over three years, the British government has updated the PrEP Impact Trial today.

In a press release published in December 2016, NHS England proclaimed that its trial submitting the pre-exposure prophylaxis (PreP) drug administration to 10,000 people over three years would occur in the "early financial year 2017/18". But while the new fiscal year started, no progress has been made until today.

"Our aim is to have the trial started by the summer of 2017," the British government official statement announced today.

Public Health England Prevention Innovation Fund in 2017 to 2018 is seeking proposals that will address knowledge, awareness, and understanding of PrEP and other PrEP-related questions, especially in currently under-served populations in the community (e.g. higher-risk heterosexuals, black and minority ethnic group gay men and transgender communities). To register interest in the fund, please send an email with your name, email address and organization name to hiv.prevention@phe.gov.uk.

As the official statement guarantees, PrEP drug supply will be paid for and secured by NHS England.
