Vespa (RED) Scooter Is Launched In India - pilt 1

Piaggio launched the Vespa (RED) – a highly exclusive model, created specifically for the Indian market. When a Vespa (RED) is purchased, it will trigger a $50 USD donation to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in India. Each scooter sold can help provide more than 165 days of lifesaving HIV medication – medication that can help save a mother’s life and prevent her from passing the virus to her unborn baby.

Bollywood celebrity, Farhan Akhtar, presented and owned the first Vespa (RED) in Mumbai. Akhtar said, in support of the cause represented by the collaboration: “I am privileged to present this initiative to the country and proud to own the first Vespa (RED) bike. I am honored to be a part of this endeavor for the fight to end AIDS here in India.”

Product (RED) is a licensed brand that seeks to engage the private sector in raising awareness and funds to help eliminate HIV/AIDS. The concept was founded in 2006 by U2 frontman and activist Bono, together with Bobby Shriver of the ONE Campaign and DATA.

Vespa is an Italian brand of scooter manufactured by Piaggio. The name means wasp in Italian. The Vespa has evolved from a single model motor scooter manufactured in 1946 by Piaggio.
