24 May 2017

American HIV activists and related stakeholders worry about the way AIDS Drugs Assistance Program continues.

The program mentioned above, achieved some positive changes in HIV-transmission. The National Alliance of AIDS and Territorial AIDS Director came out with the proposal of program’s review.

Program is aimed to help HIV-positive people, who have no opportunity or could not afford themselves the necessary medications. According to the report, the majority (77 percent) of all clients served by ADAPs in 2015 were virally were estimated to be virally suppressed.

“Cutting Medicaid will put far more pressure on safety net systems like ADAP and the Ryan White Program. As the Senate takes up its own version of the [ACA replacement], it is imperative that lawmakers understand the devastating impact that undercutting Medicaid and private insurance for people living with HIV and hepatitis will have on public health programs and efforts to fight and end the epidemics.”
