A Community Brief About "Undetectable = Untransmittable" Is Newly Available

26 janeiro 2018

The International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) published a community brief "Undetectable = Untransmittable" to provide the HIV community with current information and analysis of new and updated clinical data on the effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in preventing HIV transmission to sexual partners of people living with HIV.

The brief provides a detailed analysis of the scientific, legal, policy and advocacy implications of U=U for people living with HIV and the broader HIV community sector. It also provides information on how this new scientific evidence can support civil society advocacy on scaling up access to ART and viral load diagnostics that are required to achieve the 90-90-90 targets.

"While the health benefits of treatment will always be the primary purpose of ART, it is vital that the secondary benefits to people living with HIV and their sexual partners be fully understood and communicated", authors said.

The founder of Prevention Access Campaign #UequalsU Bruce Richman was named the Healthline HIV Influencers Honors Person of the Year at December 2017. POZ Magazine awarded #UequalsU as the Best Media Campaign for People Living With HIV.
