Messi launches HCV “Tour 'n' Cure” campaign in Egypt
Argentinian football star Lionel Messi, who plays for both FC Barcelona and the Argentinian national team, made his long-awaited visit to Egypt on 21 February to launch the “Tour 'n' Cure” campaign, which promotes tourism hepatitis C (HCV) treatment in Egypt.
Messi is ambassador for the campaign, which was initiated by Prime Pharma and is supported by the Egyptian ministries of tourism and aviation.
The visit had been delayed twice, once due to the December attack on St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, and once in February after FC Barcelona lost to Paris SG 4-0 in the 2017 Champions League.
Messi began his visit with a tour of the Pyramids and a photo session for the campaign, then launched the campaign at the Mena House Hotel, where there was an auction for a Messi T-shirt to raise money for treating Egyptian HCV patients.
