Indian Scientists Search for a New Way of TB Treatment
Indian scientists from the University of Delhi have identified molecules that could effectively inhibit TB virus and have published all the results of the study in Scientific Reports journal. The molecules are targeting a gene, important for the bacterium’s survival. Possibly they may find a new way to cure TB in the nearest future.
“We have identified inhibitory molecules against a key iron regulator that is crucial for the survival of the TB pathogen,” said Prof. Anil K. Tyagi, a senior scientist at the University of Delhi and lead researcher of the study.
One of the leading researchers explained that the team of biologists have employed computer aided drug discovery and experimental approaches to identify inhibitors against an essential protein of TB bacteria, Scientists then could recognise the extra- features contributing to the better inhibition of this protein’s activity.
