Latent-HIV Detection Makes HIV-vaccine Exploration Closer
30 maggio 2017
Scientists work on HIV-cure exploration for many years, they’ve achieved a lot, but still hidden HIV-cells are treated dangerously. The majority of the hidden HIV DNA in these cells is defective and cannot cause infection.
Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health in Pennsylvania published in the journal "Nature Medicine" their research about the ways of checking hidden HIV DNA in CD4 cells. The test finds an active gene if the replication-competent HIV is present. Test results are ready in 7 days, compared in two weeks, it is cheaper that tests actual for today and requires smaller number of cells, thereafter smaller amount of blood.
